Mini Horse Therapy
One of our most popular programs is our therapeutic Miniature Horse Program. Our two pony therapists, Spirit and Sonic, have been selected for their safety and fantastic temperaments, and have been highly trained and acclimated to a wide variety of environments. The joy that they bring to the people they meet is tremendous and we are proud to offer this service to residents of senior living facilities or to community groups. Our visits usually last an hour, and during that time people can interact with the ponies, whether that means petting them or just spending time absorbing the wonderful energy that our ponies have. Our handlers are picked based on their experience with horses and then are trained in specific scenarios related to the visits. The ponies use a manure bag that prevents any accidental manure from landing on the floor and are presented with the highest level of cleanliness necessary for the environment. Educational Resources
Another popular program we offer for seniors who are still living at home are educational resources designed to help seniors maintain their independence for as long as safely possible. Our talks cover topics such as:
- Making sense of new technologies, and how that can be used to help seniors and their loved ones feel more secure
- Tips for making the home environment as safe as possible in the face of changing physical abilities
- A 50’s themed seated exercise routine that incorporates music and works on agility and range of motion.
We provide these talks through our community partners, and each talk generally last between 30-45 minutes, although we can tailor the presentations to meet the specific needs of your group. Please contact us if you’re interested in scheduling a talk for your group.
